Hi
We are in the midst of planning the renovation of our kitchen. Slightly unusual size - it is about 5.5m long but only 2.5m wide. As it is on the narrow side we are not planning on having any overhead cuboards down the two long sides of the kitchen so we make it feel as open as possible. The hob will be about half way down one of the sides so we are trying to decide on range hood. Hob is 600mm wide - should we go for stainless steel or one with glass? (thats the first question)
If we go for stainless steel can choose either 600m width or 900mm width. If we go for glass 900mm is only option. I like the glass but wonder if "losing" that extra 300mm of space above the worktop will defeat the purpose of not putting in cuboards to create the look of space. I will have overhead cuboards on the end (short) all so will only be about 50cm between front of these cuboards and the range hood if we go with the 600mm wide option but only 350mm if we go for the wide option. (that is the second question)
Do you think a 600mm range hood would look silly? and what are peeps thoughts on glass versus stainless steel look?
How exciting!
Glass ranges are a total PITA to clean and keep clean. I would go for SS every time.
Can't really comment on size though without seeing it, but if space was an issue, I would do what I could to use the smaller I think.
Good luck.
Thanks girls. Done some more measuring and think that 600mm is the way we will have to go. Just works best for the doors on the overhead cubboard on the short end of the kitchen would be a bit on the tight side if we went to the 900mm hood. While I do like the idea of glass going to go SS if it is such a pita to clean. Fingers crossed its the right decison.
