How much does your blw baby eat?

So DD's are seven months and we have been doing blw for about five weeks. They are definitely eating stuff now though obviously it is up to them. Miss G is an appalling night sleeper and in sure when I get visited by the nurse tomorrow I'm going to be told she is hungry. Which she isn't and you can't force a baby to eat.

So my question is, how much and how many meals did your LO eat on a daily basis? How do you know when they have had enough as each meal takes about 45 mins - does this sound about right?

I just feel like I'm seriously doubting myself because blw seems to be such a foreign thing in our little town and I hear about the vast quantities of purées other bubbas are putting away.

Need some fodder for the nurse tomorrow so we can stick to our guns. TIA

My DS at seven months probably was only have one real meal a day and the rest of the time just picked at whatever I was eating through out the day. I always gave him enough for him to eat and some got eaten but most either he squished and played with or got thrown at the dogs!

He was at daycare three days a week and they weren't keen on BLW so spoon feed him lunch those days but it was always the 12+ months meals etc so he still never had puréed stuff.

I think the issue with BLW is that u don't really know how much their eating? Especially in our case cuz it was either in his belly or our dogs... Hard to compare what was left!

At 7 months, not much. DD started taking in food at around 9 months and DS at 8 months. I started offering both at 6 months.

That's good to know. I hate that I'm getting told to give them food before breast milk and that they wake because I don't give them enough solids. Just so much flies in the face of the whole concept of blw.

Sounds like they're going well with it
At this age, milk is absolutely essential and shouldn't be displaced by too much solids, generally speaking.
While my son ate from 6 months and would be having 1-2 small meals at that age, my daughter still could not have food in her mouth without gaggin/vomitting till over 7.5 months and din't really eat anything till 8 months. Neither slept well, both were growing and hitting their milestones (which are far more reasonable indicators of how they're going. Sleep, sadly, is irrelevant).

Spock is 8months and doesnt eat a full meal... 90% of what I offer alwsys ends up on the floor. I guess to pit the ammount into perspective she still doesnt est a full piece of fruit. only thing she will eat all of is a banana. ill slice up a peach for her and she will only eat 3/4 of it. and with other foods I offer that quantity is probably the most she will have itms. and she always gets offered our evening meal and atleast one other sit down meal (either breakfast or lunch depending on our day)

My DD didn't have any proper meals until about 13 months. She just wasn't that interested in solids and preferred boob. I've always followed the mantra 'food is fun til they're 1' and it's more about trying different things, experiencing new textures etc. I found she would eat soft foods like yoghurt and cooked fruit but wasn't interested in other foods. I had to adjust my expectations that she would embrace BLW and by 18 months she was eating everything we did. Good luck!

At 7 months my DD wasn't really eating much either. As others have said, most was still ending up on the floor! Food was really something to keep her occupied while DH and I ate our dinner, though she did eat a bit more at 'lunch'.

Great, so it does sound like what goes on here is the norm. It just really bugs me that every little quirk is attributed to the girls not getting enough food, simply because we are doing something considered outside the box for our little town. And when people question things left, right and centre the way they are, it makes me second guess my own parenting.

    Thank you for reassuring me
