Tell me about your washing machine...

After 5 years I think I'll have to get a new washing machine This is the second time in 12 months the board has blown in it. 3rd time in 3 years I think, first was under warranty though.

I have the 7.5kg F&P smart drive. I love it. Its an awesome washing machine... when its going Cleans better than other machines I've used.

I just don't think its worth $240 every 12 months to keep it going & I'm sick of washing between the bath & laundromat til I can afford to fix it.

So what have you got & more importantly, how long have you had it without problems? I'm looking at an LG 9.5 kg, but I'm nervous about spending that kind of money on something that might play up...

I love my washin machine. It was a wedding gift and it was the best ever! It's a Miele and it cleans so good! It's efficient, doesn't damage my clothes and has a lot of settings to get the wash perfect if I want.

They have a 2 year warranty but they are built for a lifetime of use (25 years).

The other brand up there is Asko, and personally if I had to buy for myself I would have gone for an Asko or Bosch. Apparently for wet appliances they are the top 3 reliable brands.

My SiL had a repair man tell her if she buys Bosch she won't have to see him! Lol

From what I have heard from people I would steer clear of the F&P. But that's just me.

I have a Samsung Front loader and it is fantastic. I have also heard the askos are great but they are expensive.

I had an Electrolux 8kg front loader which kept breakign down so I ditched it after a few years. We have an acquasmart which I quite like, though it was expensoive. We've only had it about 9 months or so, but no issues so far. We also have a small euromaid front loader. it had to be replaced after breaking down the first time I used it! 2nd one seems to be fine so far..... My parents have an LG which they've had for years and never any issues.
I would personally avoid ever buying electrolux or associated brands (simpson, whirlpool, etc) ever again due to the absolutely shocking service.

I have a Samsung too. My first Samsung was fantastic and I had it just over 8 years before it died (plus it was second hand so it did really well). I loved it so much that I bought another Samsung last year (got a front loader).

It seems miele don't do top loaders?? I'm a bit skeptical about front loaders. I asked a repairman about them & he said they cost more to repair because they're harder to work on. Also know too many people with bad experiences.

And at $4500 there's no way!!

We have a Fisher & paykel washsmart it's amazing! I love it! It's got an awesome energy rating and no messy filters to clean out! You can delay start your wash, pick the water level to save water, programme in your fave cycles. It makes everything so much easier.

    Ummm... it's white and square.
I bought it second hand for $150 3 years ago and it's never given me any problems. Except the times to hose popped out of the drain and flooded my floor but I think that is more to do with my dodgy sink than the machine. Now I've moved house it doesn't do that any more.

Purplepixie I liked my F&P for those exact reasons. Heaps easier with the self flushing lint filter
I'd have mine fixed & keep it, but I'm worried that it's going to keep breaking down. I may fix & sell it down the track when I have some money.

A hitatchi something or other. Its big as my parents and siblings bring their blankets to me to wash but no idea how big. Works a treat for us Never had any problems with it in the 2 -3 years Maybe even 4? of ownership. I never pay much attention but since Ive not noticed anything coming back out dirty Id say it cleans okay lol.

I have an 8kg Samsung top loader. I really like it. LG and Samsung both do top loaders with no agitator in the middle so you can fit more in and things don't get ruined spinning around the agitator. I had an LG top loader before this one and it was great. It was only 5.5kg but it handled doing multiple loads every day for years - I gave it to my childless brother so it could be semi retired

    Me too.

I did a big thread on this a while back... I'll see if I can find it. I bought a Samsung front loader based on that. It's 10kg and I can do my whole bed sheets (king doona cover, queen sheets) in one load. Love it.

My Simpson is almost 15 years old! 7.5 kgs washes perfectly still! They don't make them like that anymore (I sound old!)!they used to be made in Australia when i bought it , now made in China using cheaper parts like everything else.
