Thread worms are more active at night so if you change her nappy before bed you might see some. It would probably be worth worming her anyway if you haven't done so lately.
How do you know if your child has worms?
I ask because today when we were getting DD1 ready for her bath we noticed an enormous number of scratch marks on her bottom cheeks. She was at childcare today so we didn't see her itching all day, but obviously she must have been. Is it likely this scratching might be a sign? (There's only so far she can reach into her nappy..). If not, any other ideas? I'll be watching her more tomorrow when she's home.....

I would worm her anyway, especially since she goes to childcare and they are so easily spread - little kids aren't terribly brilliant at the hand washing caper and the eggs are microscopic and can live under fingernails etc. But if you treat her, you have to treat the whole family even if you dont think you have them and make sure you cut her fingernails and wash all her bed linen.
Thanks for the tips. To be honest, I've never done any worming of any kind (am I a bad parent lol?), I've never even considers it. Do I pick up something from the chemist or do I need a script from the doc? I reckon I'll see how she is tomorrow and if she's still scratching then give it a go.
You can just get it from the chemist. It comes in liquid, tablets or chocolate.
I've just had to do my lot. DH came out one night & said he had worms! *puke* so the whole family got done. One of my kids HATES the chocolates though so that was a real treat to get him to have!
Certainly won't hurt to worm, but our DD used to come home from daycare with scratches on her bottom cheeks as well. We worked out it was the Aldi nappies we were using that were irritating her and making her scratch. Didn't happen at home because we use cloth nappies.
