I'm pretty sure I was mixing weetbix with a little cows milk for my two by that age... Isn't it funny how quickly we forget?
I want to give DD weetbix for breakfast, DS always loved it, it kept him nice and regular etc, but at this age he was FF so I just used the milk left from his morning bottle to mix in the weetbix.
DD is BF so this morning I gave her weetbix mixed with water, after about 5 spoonfuls she turned her nose up, and I can see why, it was disgusting with water.
I know I 'could' express, but frankly for the 50ml or so I'd need, I'd rather not have to do this everyday. She's 7 months, is that too young to mix in cows milk? Or should I try something else - eg goats milk? Maybe I should just suck it up and express after she's gone to bed each night.....
I have given her homemade custard from the thermomix made with full cream cows milk which she happily ate with no stomach upsets etc
Any suggestions would be appreciated, Ta

I used cows milk from that age
I use cows milk too. I also mixed in some puree apples so it tastes a bit nicer.
Thanks girls, will give it a whirl tomorrow xxx
I used fruit purée / stewed fruit. Tended to mix in or entirely use oats over weetbix though, as it's less processed (though both did have weetbix from time to time).
I used cows milk, fruit puree or yoghurt from that age. Mostly cows milk though![]()
EBM lasts 4 days in the fridge - would it be worth doing a pump once or twice a week, or would that give you an over supply the other days?
If expressing wasn't on the cards, I probably would have persisted with water and seen if she got used to it after a few attempts (with our DSs, we just actually run the weetbix under the tap for a second or two, and then give it to them to eat like a big biscuit) or, failing that, tried some cows milk.

Meh, I use milk. Sometimes REV sometimes Lactose Free. Usually Lactose Free because I make it for DD and DS stands against the couch and complains til I give him some![]()
When I make it for my kids, I use water and full cream milk. Boiled water to warm and to dilute the milk. It's how we make it for everyone in the family actually.
Same as Netix. My kids won't eat it any other way.
I used cows milk from 6/7 months for cereals, but did keep an eye on them.
I was using cows milk for cereals by that age as well, you should be fine![]()
What my mum always did for my siblings and I, and what I now do for dd and still for myself when its cold, is run some hot water over the weetbix to soften it, drain the water, then put in a splash of milk for taste. Whether its ebm or regular milk is obviously personal preference You dont need as much because it's already softened enough to eat, even without milk.
Could you do that? If you wanted to express it'd make it easier because you wont need so much milk.
I dont think I gave DD weetbix until about 10 months, and at that age I gave regular milk with it, as she was nearly 1 anyway and has milk in other things and never had any reactions.
