    Thrush treatment

I have been on a few different heavy duty antibiotics for a week and a half now. Still on ciprol and clindamycin until Tuesday. Woke up on Friday with thrush Went to chemist and got generic brand canestan tablet (one dose) and cream. Seemed to do the trick.

I'm also taking a double dose of inner health plus probiotic.

DTD this morning and this afternoon I feel the thrush coming back

I put some cream on but I'm pretty sure that just treats the symptoms. My question is can I take another tablet so soon?? Should I just try to suffer through until I finish the ABs??

    Thanks

Sounds like you need the 7day treatment I am afraid. The 1 dose in my experience works on a mild dose. If you don't like the cream, the pessaries at night work well.

I also think DTD may irritate and feed the thrush to come back, so we don't don't DTD until I am sure the thrush is gone.

Natural yoghurt may help relieve the discomfort. I don't know how you administer it...I have seen a few threads with natural Thrush remedies on here.

    Thanks H.

I think I might be beyond the natural treatments

Looks like I might need to take a trip to the chemist tomorrow...

I would definitely avoid dtd till all clear. Last year was infection hell for me, i feel your pain I was also put on the 7 day cream treatment. But it hasn't come back since, which is good. Also the cream is very relieving because even though you use it at night, it's still there a bit all during the day IYKWIM

grrr thrush is horrible! PLain yoghurt is cooling and helps very much soothe the site. Your partner will need to be treated as well otherwise you guys will pass it back and forth. So both of you need to do the treatment together. Don't forget to take your probiotics once the ABS are finished!

I agree with the 7 day treatment.

Also look at upping your garlic intake and reducing sugars (which feed the thrush). Can help to reduce yeasty food and drinks.

This heat will not be helping.

The only advice I have is what everyone else wrote but just wanted to pop in and say I hope you find something that works soon. It is the most annoying painful thing xo

I find the garlic works well with very mild cases of vaginal thrush. Reducing sugar is really important, too.
I HATE thrush. It is so awful. Hope it clears up for you soon.

    Thanks everyone

I'm going to limp through using the cream tonight. Try a combo of natural/tablet treatment tomorrow.
