Ok, so I know this isn't a Family Assistance thing, but it's a Centerlink thing.
7 and a half weeks ago, I put in for Carers Allowance + only got told last week (after waiting 6 weeks, i was told by phone when I was chasing up) that they needed a copy of my birth certificate. I had provided DS (because its for me in association with him) and my drivers license, Medicare card and bank card.
Did it, went away, called 3 days later to see the progress.
Apparently it hasn't even been looked at by then which infuriated me!
Fast forward to a week later (today) from that phone call + I tried calling but got the engaged signal.
Anyways, I guess the point of this is while thread is when am I going to see any progress in it, and will I get back paid for it?
you should get backpay from when it was submitted, but i don't know the other answers. If you get stuck, maybe ask to talk to the centrelink social worker to see if they can help out?
Processing of all disability related claims has an expected wait of over six weeks as it has to be assessed by specialist medical staff. It will be backdated to date of claim if you e out on all the information. You just have to wait it out.
