February last year I was diagnosed with endo after a lap and D&C, my gynae said it was only a mild case but at the same time I was unknowingly treating myself for it by being on the pill consecutively for 6 years, I then had a mirena put in which resulted in no bleeding at all for a year, after a year I started bleeding again so went to my GP who referred me onto my gynae who did my lap. After the lap i had another mirena put in which I then had out in December last year so I could start TTC, but with this mirena I still had monthly bleeding and I've had it since except one very long cycle in January, I'm due for AF on Monday and I'm noticing the same pain and symptoms starting again....
Anyway what I'm wanting to know is for those who have had multiple laps how often have you needed them? it feels like it should be too soon for me to be building up to another....what do you think?
The speed with which the endo grows back varies from woman to woman. Endo can grow back as quickly as 6 months for some, but take years for others. I had a lot of endo removed at my first lap but not much had grown back by my second lap, in spite of symptoms feeling like they were progressing quickly back to what they had been before.
For me (36yo and severe endo), I'd give myself 6 months to TTC without a lap (and that is actually what I did last year - 6 months TTC then got a referral back to my GYN for my second lap), but if I were your age and had only mild endo I'd probably wait the full 12 months instead.
That said, if you're concerned, it's worth discussing it with your Dr. Endo doesn't really follow any rules, so you should trust your instincts and your Dr's experience to determine the best path forward.
