    Ongoing clean energy supplements

I've just had a notice in my online services that ongoing clean energy payments will be included with my carers as of next f/n payments.

Can anyone tell me how much the rates are? I had no idea this was happening, but I'm assuming its only a few $$ a f/n?

Yup a few extra bucks a fn with carers/parenting payments from now (well, march 20) and with ftb from July 1.

The fortnightly amount will vary depending on your payment type
    Clean Energy Supplement

The exact dollar amounts are not available online at this stage as they come in to play along with the CPI increase on march 20. You will start to see increases in payment rates for any payments delivered from march 22 onwards

Thanks BG. You wouldn't be able to opt for a lump sum payment each year would you?

not in advance, no - and not annually - but you can believe you can opt to have it paid quarterly in arrears (so march to june paid in july, july to sept in october, etc) - would mean about 6 or 7 fn worth of payment each installment (i know you can do it with ftb, and quite sure you can with income support payments - i just won't say it unequivocally cos i'm running on memory here!)

Wasn't thinking in advance, but definetly a good option to have. Might look online once payments have started & see if there's more info. If not I may one day get game & try ringing. Impossible in WA, coz they don't accept calls til a certain time over here, & by then they're already flat out in call centres

I've tried calling later in the arvo & they've been closed. I thought it was because they close the same time country wide, or we only got an extra hour or something. Will have to find out Thanks

    It's definitely 8-8 local time
If the queue is too long and not anticipated to be handled by 8, they may close the lines early though

Is your clean energy payment adds up into your new payment?
My online system doesn't shows that it says next payment is due on 27th of march $ 450 ( iam on parenting payment and usually get 444)
iam just worried does that mean i only get $ 6 increase?

could anyone explain me this please

I'd say so Nimra. Its only a few dollars. Thats why I questioned it being paid as a lump sum later on, so it added up & was enough to do something.

Though those payments usually go in with FTB don't they? Rather than PP?

When last time I called to CL they said I will also get 150 fortnightly from March so iam really not sure thinking to call them but don't have patience to wait for ages on phone and my kids get specially some kind of sense when iam on phone they make noises like any thing.

Clean energy payments don't start til the 22nd March, so wouldn't be showing in your future payments on line, or the phone til 20th March, so I don't think the $6 extra would be that.

Did they tell you what the $150 would be? I'd ring them & ask.

The clean energy supplements are definitely only a SMALL amount. Nothing like 150!

There is a new payment for people receiving some income support parents which will be paid in march and September. It so also NOT $150. It is called income support bonus, it is NOT paid with all payments, and is 105 for singles, 87.50 for partnered people. It is only paid to people who don't already receive the pension supplement.

    Ongoing clean energy supplements

I'm on a carers pension and I'm getting an extra $4.37 a fortnight for the clean energy supplement from my next payment on the 27th.

The 4.37 would be for your supplement from 20 to 25th of march. Not a full fortnight.

So it'll be somewhere in the region of an extra $12 a fortnight then?

Not a huge amount but every little helps

Yeah that sounds about right. It's designed to offset the increase in electricity costs due to the carbon tax.
