No ideas for you N2L but just wanted to send you a giant hug and hope you get this sorted out soon.
Bit of background - I have recently spent six days in hospital on heavy duty IV antibiotics (they tried a few before settling on gentamicin and lincomyacin). I then "graduated" to a week of oral doses of Ciprol and clindamycin.
As soon as I left hospital I started on a double dose of inner health plus probiotic. I tried to take it two hours after the ABs but it was hard as I was on 11tablets a day on a weird schedule. Not surprisingly, three days after leaving hospital, I got vaginal thrush. I treated it with fluconazole (one tablet treatment) and cream. Went away, came back, and I took another one tablet treatment. This happened a few times. I have now had five one day treatments.
In the middle of this I developed oral thrushSo I started on mycostatin drops. Thought it went away so I stopped the drops, it came back the next day.
Anyway, a couple of days ago I start getting a real stinging feeling in what I think is the tip of my urethra.
It doesn't sting to pee but I think I am peeing more often. I started on cranberry capsules yesterday and took a dose of ural (meant to have more but forgot!) Drinking lots of water, eating yogurt, keeping on going with inner health plus.
This whole thing is starting to get me down. (It's also wreaking havoc on my sex life)
I'm not sure if this latest thing is thrush, a UTI or something else??
Anyone have any ideas??
Ps, I did my last one tab treatment for thrush on Wednesday.
Thanks![]()

Sounds pretty thrushy to me, it can feel like a uti sometimes and especially with the massive AB load. You need to make some major changes to your diet after that if you want to quickly get on top of it.
Loads of stuff in my thrush article, as well as the specific probiotics for womens vaginal health. All in the article.
Chuck out any wheat, sugar and get as much fruit and veg in as you can. Leafy greens your heart out. Coconut oil is antifungal. Replace your oils and take it orally. Keep up the probiotics but it will take time to reestablish the good flora which has no doubt been wiped out and struggling to reestablish.

Yoghurt is pretty useless in the big scheme of things, as are most probiotic fortified supermarket products. If you watch the clip at the end you'll see why.

Sounds the same way I feel when I'm getting a UTI. I generally drink a bucket of Ural or Uricleanse as soon as I feel it coming on, because mine come on hard and fast for some reason. Maybe a bath with some apple cider vinegar as well? Diluted, not straight, obviously
What about pessaries as well? Get it close to the source IYKWIM![]()
Could it be a vaginal infection?
Thats a potential too. If there is an odour or discharge would be something else to consider.

Thanks everyone
No discharge or odor at all so I don't think it's an infection.
N2L, I know you tried cream, but my FS told me to get Nilstat treatment for thrush. It is a 2 week cream I think, so much longer, but it cleared everything up and haven't had it back since. I had never heard of it before my FS recommended it.
Thanks Tasha. I just went to pharmacist and spoke to her. She gave me double strength canestan which you use for three days. If that doesnt work I'm off to the doctor![]()
Good ideaDamn thrush, it's a nightmare! Hope it does the trick this time.
N2L I#ve had this before and i never ended up fonding out what it was, thought the same things as you. the last time i had it was a few weeks postpartum, it went on its own, maybe it was mild thrush. I just put it down to irritation at the urethral opening.
Canesten will help the symptoms, just keep treating the root cause and building up good bacteria, or you'll keep struggling with it. Canesten wont give you good bacteria - its a battle of the good vs bad - side with the most soldiers wins.

I'm still on the probiotics and keeping away from diet nasties.
Also going jockless as often as I can and plan on bathing in some diluted apple cider vinegar.
I WILL beat this!![]()
