    Smelly ear discharge.

DD2 has another ear infection, albeit first for a while....!
It's in her ear with the remaining grommet, so the infection (pus and fluid) is draining nicely, she's on ab's as of this morning. My concern is since the fluid started leaking (after seeing the dr) i noticed it was smelly, It's never been smelly before, do I need be concerned?

    Smelly ear discharge.

I had a child with grommets and lots of ear infections usually if it got smelly we would start anti biotics so you should be right now if you have already started them. We would try to manage it with tissue spears as best we could but as soon as it got smelly we were off to the doctors. Hope they clear up soon for you.

I'd say that once the antibiotics start to really kick in, the smell should go away. It's probably just the discharge being exposed to air. If it still bothers you, say, by Tuesday morning, i'd pop back to dr. Good luck. Xxx
