    Fever and no other symptoms

Last night dd had a fever of 38.1 I thought I'd see how she went but she was quite miserable so I have her some panadol and it dropped down to normal. Then after her final feed (around midnight) she was up to 38 again so I gave her some more to sleep.

She woke around 4 crying and really restless, but no fever so I just fed her and put her back down. This morning it was back up to 38.2 but I didn't give her any relief with the hope the fever can kill of whatever is the issue. She has no nose issues, no cough but I booked Into the doctor to get checked.

They checked her ears, chest and throat and couldn't see any issues. Apart from the fever and being more whingy and clingy she seems fine. The doctor said if the temperature gets above 38 to give her panadol/nurofen so i have had to give it to her this afternoon and tonight again. Just now when I have her the final feed again it was 38.9, but since nurofen it's down to 37.1.

She's very restless sleeping. What could it be?? The doctor said it may be teething or she does look like she is fighting a virus because her eyes are puffy but everything seems fine...

    Help!! Suggestions please!!

    Fever and no other symptoms

How old is she hun??? I was going to dsy ears but if all that is fine it's probably a virus, may it may not cause vomiting too. Mine would get the vomiting first then fever. Hope she's feeling better soon.

When my eldest gets an unexplained high fever its usually solved a day or so later with a diagnosis of tonsillitis. If we go in too early then they don't always catch it. For us there are no other symptoms other than a fever, sometimes complains of a sore ear (referred pain).

    She's 10 months.

Do children normally get prolonged fever with teething.

I'm just worried the other symptoms will appear over the long weekend when it's impossible to see a gp!

I was going to suggest teeth or virus too.
Keep her fluids up. How's her eating? dd goes right off food when she's teething just wants mumma and milk. Love baby wearing on those days

Yeah she is not that fussed on solids at the moment. Did your children get fever for a couple days with teething?

My kids got a fever with teething. My GP told me that fever is not related to teething, but I beg to differ! Too much of a coincidence that it happened every time both boys cut a tooth, along with diarrhea (sp?).

Some times fever, some times bad tummy, sometimes red open nappy rash. Always off food and grumping.

    How is your LO tonight?

Tonight she has been a bit distracted by her cousins but she had spiked up to 38.9 so I gave her some more. I hate giving her pain killers but scared of what would happen if I didn't

She's sleeping now and it's dropped.

She seems to have a tooth appearing now up the top gum though

My DS had odd out of the blue fevers a few months ago, no other symptoms. I suspected a virus or teething, but I do remember a fairly red bum that went with it so I decided it was probably teething. I just kept giving him panadol and the fever would drop fairly quickly.

I think maybe a mild virus. My DS has had similar temps over this week. No other symptoms, happy, eating & drinking well, sleeping well. It has lasted about 3 days and he was mostly fine today. We kept him home from kindy Tues, weds. The carers said several of the kids have had the same. I took him to the dr today as I already had an appt booked (otherwise I wouldn't have bothered) and he was fine. Maybe a virus going around the country (I'm in qld).

    Fever and no other symptoms

Don't be afraid of giving her medicine (HUGGS)
Babies can get fevers for no reason at all, or it could be virus or her tonsils.
My daughter gets very nasty temps, ESP with tonsillitis, but it is safe to give them panadol, then Nurofen two hours after, then panadol two hours after the Nurofen and so on.
I find fevers worse at night because the panadol/Nurofen isn't given regular over night, so set your alarm and give her a dose in the middle of the night X
If after 24hrs she is still getting a fever, take her to get checked out again, just remember go back to basics, loose cool clothing, fan in the room or a tepid bath x

Temps are scary, I hate them!!! X
Big HUGGS, I hope she is better by tomorrow, and have a lovely Easter Break

Thanks! She seems to be improving, but is still getting the fever once or twice a day.

My poor baby. Last night she was screaming and screaming in her sleep, and dd is not a screamer. It's really put her out of sorts.

If it's been going on for more than a day or so I'd see a doctor. Sometimes there are no other symptoms with infections, even a UTI for eg.
