How long for passports and visas to US?

We are thinking we might travel to the US in the next school hols, probably leaving about 25 June. But DH and DD need passports and we will need to get visas. It is probably only 9 weeks away.Is that enough time for the normal processing.
Also, we are going to new York mainly but will do a stopover in LA one way to go to Disneyland. Which was is jet lag worse as I thought we should do the stopover on that leg but not sure. Any tips gratefully received.

Not sure about visas, but our passports only took a week.

Good to know about passports , we just became citizens and that cancels your visa, I knew we had to sort Aus passports but slipped my mind only to be reminded by DH almost not being allowed back into country from NZ yesterday - whoops!

You do electronic visas on EtSA. Takes about a week.

passports are quick and i think from memory visas under 90 days are automatic to the US are they not?? sorry have only been to the US for 90+ days so needed a residency visa.

FWIW on your second question, i would be tempted to stopover in LA before NY. i found the jet hopping from LAX to the east coast really exhausting after the long haul flight from australia and really could of done with a nana nap to break it up.

My DH always gets his Visa approved in about 1 hour and he goes to America 3 times a year. 9 wks in plenty of time to get organised. How many days are you going to give yourself in LA? Most flights get into LA early morning there, so your best bet is to try staying awake all day and sleeping when it is night there. Has worked for me and DH whenever we have gone. Doing it at the end of the trip means something for your DD to really look forward to but will you get lots of when are we going to Disneyland?

Thanks ladies. Glad to hear passports don't take long. If we do the long trip from new York to Melbourne with no stopover, should we get back Friday to be able to feel normal to get back to work and school on Monday?

Hmmm, coming home is always more of a challenge, your tired from the flight but also the holiday so yeah giving yourself a couple of days to re adjust is a great idea.
