    Braces question

I've had braces on my lower teeth since January. Today I went back for an adjustment. I have all brackets on my teeth still but the wire was shortened to only be on the front 6 teeth. I'm getting so major irritation to the inside of my mouth where the bare brackets are rubbing. Has anyone had the wire shortened and brackets left like this?? My first time around the wire remained on all teeth throughout the treatment.

I had braces for 4 years in my teens and they tried lots of combinations of wire / no wire etc.

Perfectly normal! The rubbing I used to use wax ( got it from the orthodontist) and placed it on the part of the bracket rubbing the most. Or bonjela used to work too. Having antibacterial mouthwash also helped with stopping any up ulcers from becoming enormous.

    It's tough but worth it!

Second the wax from your orthodontist. Was a life saver for me.

or in a real pinch, sugar free gum will tide you over until you can get wax. It's a bit gross but it works. Your mouth will get used to the new wire placement.

    Hope you get some relief.
