    centrelink & online study

Does centrelink recognise online learning as a legit form of study? I am looking at doing a course thats provided through OTEN, but I am unsure if I would need to tell this to centrelink seeing as its done online and says it is self paced? I know centrelink need to know if its 15+ hours a week, but would it even count being an online course even if I done that?

Sorry for the million questions lol, just thought I'd ask here in case anyone knows rather than sit on hold for ages to speak for all of 2mins haha

If you are asking for child care purposes, as long as it is a ourselves that increases your employability it would generally be acceptable. Just keep record of how much you are actually studying in case you are asked to prove it. I generally suggest keeping a diary. Put in hours and what topic etc you are studying on any given day.

I'm studying online and I can print out my enrolment details that detail what course/units I'm enrolled into and what the study load is.

Not sure what OTEN is ...

Thanks Briggsy's Girl Yes it is for childcare (so I actually get a decent chunk of time to study that isnt just when ds is in bed lol), as well as whether I just generally needed to tell them or not lol. Do you think cert 3 business administration would be accepted? It is to increase my chances of employability, I thought this course would give me the skills to have an option of positions to apply for (receptionist/pa type etc). The diary idea is brilliant, I would never have thought of it. Thanks! Any idea if it would be best to call or see someone in person to clarify with them?

if you can't notify using online services, always call up - due to minimal staffing in the face to face contact centres, it's often a case of them asking your enquiry and putting oyu on the phone anyway as they just don't have the time (or, in some cases, the training) for FAO related questions
