When can I submit my claim for Commonwealth Paid Parental Leave?

hi everyone,

Just wondering if someone can confirm when I can submit my claim for CPPL? I thought I would be able to submit it now but it looks like it has to be done within 3 months of my due date... am I reading that correctly or am I just silly and can't understand the application process?

When I did mine it has to be within 3 months of bubs due date. I did it a couple of days prior to that and my EDD was an option where previously it wasn't in the drop down box. HTH

Related question (sorry tk1999 hope you don't mind) if you stop working like a month or two months before the EDD can you still be entitled to the government paid parental leave?

as long as you meet the other requirements - if you finish up 2 months before edd, you would have had to work 10 of the 11 months prior to ceasing work

and you can't go too early as you can't have more than 8 week break between work days (or finishing up and giving birth) - unless their are extenuating circumstances (like pregnancy related illnesses)

I'm pretty sure you can't have more than 8 consecutive weeks between last working day and edd. Someone correct me f i am wrong...

And to my understanding you cant get paid until bubs is born and your forms are lodged. I think they back date it if you leave work before you EDD but you wont see any money until the forms have been processed. Is that right BG?

I don't particularly mind when the payments are made - I just want to get the application done so I can stop having to remember to do it LOL

Yup no payment until bub arrives and you lodge proof if birth. If you have opted to have ppl start at date if birth it will only be backdated if you lodge within set time frame (I think 14 days. It may be 28 - dont quote me!)
