Bookkeeping program for home & WAHM use

Hello, I would love to hear what you use to keep your bookkeeping in order.

I had a look at some of the excel templates but TBH I couldn't even work out how to change the labels & after I entered some figures, the totals worksheet didn't even update, so not really happy with the user-friendliness of that. I've got basic excel skills so I could make my own workbook I guess, but I would to hear if there's something simple I could be using already.

I basically just need to be able to enter expenses by date, add category labels, and a spot for explanatory notes, as well as some kind of log book for kms travelled.

A simple program that does this would be best, but if anyone keeps a manual entry book I would love to hear what you use.

excel is great, but you do need some level of knowledge or else it can be very frustrating when something goes awry.

You can't really beat MYOB for simplicity, and the home version is very reasonable

I keep one of those books you buy in the newsagent. Enter my own fields at the top, then total them at the bottom. I know it seems old fashioned. But I figure I know what I'm writing in and I work it all out so can't go wrong. Plus I've only got a small business that's been running for less than 12 months, and had a loss last year.

Myob. Dead easy to use and heaps of helpful online resources.

Yep this. It can be as simple as you want it or as complicated as you need it. We started using it just to record sales and expenses at home for the business. Now we've upgraded so we have a live version where DH can record his invoices out on the job, email it instantly to the customer and it syncs with the PC back home, relieving us from mountains of data entry.

I've used a custom designed program and Arrow accounts package and both had nothing on MYOB.
