    Question Advance payments?

Did I read somewhere that you can pay off an advance payment a bit earlier & apply earlier?

I'm due to make my last payment on one of mine the 29th May, but can't reapply til June 11. Can I not apply before then, even though its paid off?

I need to take DD1 to Perth for a netball carnival early in June. About a week before I can apply, but there's no way I can do it without an advance.

Unfortunately I am sure you can only do one loan/advance per twelve months. It doesn't hurt to go in and ask though. Hope you can get it.

They've changed it all. It's every 6 months now. As soon as you pay one off, you can claim the next one. I used mine last back in January to get from NSW back to WA.
It used to be pay off in 6 months & can apply again in 12 months.

Depends on the advance. FTB can be paid back early and apply again straight after last deduction is repaid. Carers and dsp payments are six monthly (which is what I'm assuming you're referring to given the dates). Other income support is once every twelve months.

Is there any other way you can get the money together?

I am able to apply for all 3 in June, but the other 2 weren't til later in the month. Around the 20th. I'll have to see which is which & how much is left to pay out. Thanks BG.

I can't use my carers to help pay my FTB one though can I?

Trill, I'm trying my best, but I have school photo's & netball subs to pay this week. Then only 2 weeks & just not enough spare money/time to get enough together. Already owe my parents money for tyres, so can't ask them til I at least pay that back. I only found out for sure last week that they're going.

You should be able to apply online the day after you've made your last payment.

It really depends on the amount left. You can request as much ftba/rent assistance as you need to pay it out as long as you get that much in the fortnight. You just need to work out your own budget. Carers cannot be Accessed early though.

Ok, I just called them & now I'm not so sure.

The guy I spoke too said I could pay either one out early, but that doesn't mean I'm guaranteed to be able to apply any earlier than the set dates, because it hasn't been 6 months yet. He said with the FTB maybe if I hadn't taken out the whole amount, maybe, but because I did take the full amount back in January it probably wouldn't work.

He said I may 'fall through the system' & the dates I can apply may change, but there's a good chance it won't. Which means if I went ahead I'd be down over $200 next fortnight with no guarantee I could make up for it.

So I'm not sure what to do now. Is he right?

I guess is it comes down to it I might be able to borrow some from mum & dad, then pay my advance straight back to them when I can get it. But not the amount I wanted to have. I wanted to get some winter clothes for the kids & its DD2's birthday a few days after. I have no shops here, so wanted to do all that while up there!
Maybe a miracle will happen & child support will finally get me some money. Its only been 10 months since I asked them to collect

BG, can you tell me if he's right? I just want to be sure before I go ahead. He didn't sound like he actually knew, but was trying to sound like he did IYGWIM.

Ok. I'll ring tomorrow & organise it to be paid out with my next payment... 24th. Almost a week before I'll want to reapply.
Hopefully I'll get someone who actually has an idea. Cheers

I have paid my ftb advance early three times. (Am actually doing it this week cos we have rego and license renewal due within two weeks right on dds birthday!). Ftb can be paid out early and advanced again immediately provided you meet normal criteria (no debts etc). The others can't. Ftb is the only one. As long as you have paid it all back you should be fine.

On due for ftb thurs. it gets processed tomorrow so I can apply again weds and have money in account Friday...

Awesome. Thankyou so much. I just wanted to be extra sure after what he said. Can't be too careful when it comes to money!

So my payment is due the 24th, that would mean it'd be processed 22nd. So I should really be able to reapply before the 24th? I won't be applying til around the 27th. That way I know it'll be there before I need it.

BG I think my rego it actually due in the next few days... Cheers for the reminder! It never rains!! :/

    Thanks again ladies.
