In Dec last year I was employed to work full time on a 3mth contract. My contract expired early March & despite repeatedly asking my supervisor & the person who hired me what is happening with my position I haven't been able to get a straight answer. Until today - when my supervisor gave me a "heads up" that my position is about to be advertised, and not for internal applicants only. Argh!! Does anyone have experience with having to reapply for a job? Can and should I mention in my application that I've been working for the organisation for 6 mths? Are HR required to give me X amount of notice if I'm unsuccessful?
I was made redundant August last year, really don't want to be looking for work again so soon
Are you through an agency? Termination clause should be in the paperwork you were given by the agency.
You're not re-applying for a job, you're applying for it, it isn't your job, you've just been doing the duties of the position.
I would be tying your experience acting in the position back to the selection criteria, but not 100% relying on it as justification for them giving you an interview. You will have to prove, just like everybody else applying, that you meet the criteria of the position and should be considered for the position.
I have been acting in positions where I've been unsuccessful for the position when it was advertised, even though I helped form the position description. So it is really up to the selection panel to decide, based on your application, if you are suitable for the position.
Thanks Sopdet - you're right, it's not my job & I'm just like everyone else in the sea of applications. Bugger it.
I'm employed directly through the organisation so hopefully I can be moved else where if unsuccessful? I dunno. What a pain.
