Help! Need a new top loader!

Our washing machine is about to die and we need a new one pronto.

I've always had top loaders - I know some people love front loaders but hey some people like apples and some like oranges

Anyway budget is up to $1000 but less would be better. Size wise I think around 8kg would be good.

I'm considering F&P 8kg Wash Smart ($664) LG 7.5kg WT H750 ($599) and maybe a Samsung at the moment. Any input greatly appreciated, particularly with respect to problems like excessive noise, powder residue on clothes, unbalancing, or just not cleaning well

I have a top loader and probably always will. The thing to look for is one that has the agitator on the bottom as it doesn't tangle the clothes as much.

See what choice has to say. Google washing machines and the link will come up. Also once you have decided have a look to see if Appliances Online deliver to your area as they are usually cheaper

I must say I love my F & P top loader and I have had it for quite a while now- at least eight years. It definitely needs to be balanced correctly when set up but apart from the initial leveling, I usually don't have problems with it ( I have moved around a fair bit during the time I have had it). I also have a front loader in my house and IMO, the F & P is far superior and washes so much better, without being damaging to my clothes.

Hmmm well now I am considering a front loader instead!! Choice recommends two Samsung models that I can get for around $700-750. They are both very similar, one is 7.5kg and one is 8kg. I'm now leaning towards the 8kg one (WF1804WPC) and I can extend the warranty to 5 years for $829 total. That's from Good Guys so may even be less in store.

I'm starting to think that any machine is going to have good and bad points and we should just pick one and as long as it has a good warranty we will be fine lol!

Front loaders far out performed top loaders in that choice test, we love ours!

Look for which Samsung you are buying, I think a bunch of them have just been recalled.

Top loaders, F & P all the way.

It's here! Went with the Samsung front loader (not a recalled one luckily!) 8kg that topped the recent Choice tests. $675 plus $119 to extend the warranty to 5 years. Can't wait to use it but definitely need to read the instructions

They do have good deals, especially with free delivery - but we got it for $24 cheaper and DH just picked it up in his ute and got his best mate to help move it inside.
