vasectomy - shave or wax before surgery?

Having this debate with hubby, who is booked in for his snip on Friday. He says shave - it's cheaper. I say wax - more costly but better for when the hair grows back.

What's the opinion of those whose partners have been through this. Is wax common (DH has never had his undercarriage - any part of his body actually - waxed). He's worried the wax will hurt. Scuse me ....

Lol, I didn't even think of that needing to be done! DH will likely get the snip after this bub is born, and now I've gotta tell him he'll need to be hairless hehe.

Has your DH ever tried either option? DH shaved once and the itching was apparently unbearable. It started from the day after, and I don't think you'd want to go scratching down the after an op. If he were to wax, he'd need to get it done professionally. DH once found one of my wax strips, the kind for the bikini line, and used it on the shaft area where there's tiny bits of hair near the base. He just about cried lol.

So I don't either option will be really attractive, but once the pain of waxing is over I reckon recovery from the op will be better.

That's what I reckon - the itching afterwards would be horrid. Nope, other than his face, a razor (or waxing strip) has never been near his body.

I'm trying REALLY hard to be sympathetic to his concerns, but after years of waxing and birthing babies I'm finding it all just a teeny bit amusing.

He knows that the hospital will shave him if they need to right? He doesn't need to take care of that himself.

Nah, it's at a private practice and he's under instruction to "shave" before he leaves home. Apparently they told him "his WIFE" was the best person to shave him!

When DH had his vasectomy a few months ago he just left it, they didn't shave it either.

DH shaved himself and it's lucky that he did because on the day the nurse gave him one of those crappy single blade orange BIC razors and expected him to do it DRY! He did say it itched like buggery after though so probably wax. But you also have to do the scrote so he may not be too keen to put hot wax there

I've just had a close girlfriend tell me to get him Veet foam remover - that's what her DH used before his snip. I haven't used the stuff for near on 20 years so does anyone know if it has a post-hair removal itch factor?????

Hahaha ... who knew pre-op could be so complicated!

Completely agree with Trill, don't let him put it there! DH has done that too and the results were not good!

DH was told to shave and do it on the day of the op. I think any itchiness would be the least of his troubles in the next few days anyway....

If you google 'veet hair removal for men amazon reviews' you'll find out why you can't use it there

Hubby shaved before his op but has used the extra sensitive veet before with no problems but it gets itchy like shaving. No way was I doing it!
