Anyone else on gestational diabetes or otherwise low GI diet?

Hi there. Given measurements of baby and previously borderline readings in previous pregnancies, my middy thinks I may be at risk for/already have gestational diabetes. I'm waiting on my appointment for the GTT but she's reccomended that I start eating as if I have GD anyway - can only be a good thing!

I eat pretty well for main meals - some simple carbs in there like whole meal bread and white rice but generally lots of veg, legumes and protein...
It's between meals that i've been really naughty. Throughout this pregnancy i've been seriously craving lollies and may or may not have worked my way through multiple packets of natural confec company snakes! Add bikkies, chocolate and sugar in my tea and my blood sugars are bound to have been up and down like crazy.

I'm now on day 4 of a self-structured, slap-dash researched low GI diet and the sugar withdrawals are making me MENTAL!! I knew I was addicted but wow. This is tough.
I'm off today to pick up the low GI preg diet book my middie reccomended and then will start meal planning I think, just to get the hang of what meals and snacks are ok.

Anyone else doing this kind of diet and want to join me for a bit of mutual support?

I have done low GI before. I have about a million cookbooks. Happy to lend them to you.

The sugar/carb craving will pass. The less you eat, the less you crave.

I'm now on very low carb and I don't have cravings at all.

I had GD with dd2 to help with the sugar cravings try grapes, watermelon and low fat yoghurt. They are all on the safe list.
