    Progesterone pesseries - high dose

I am just wondering if anyone has had experience with high doses of progesterone. I am currently on 3x 400mg a day. This sounds very high to me. I am waiting for a 5day old frozen transfer Wednesday. I am not sleeping very well & have upset stomach since starting the progesterone 3 days ago. Is this normal?

2x day is pretty normal so 3 sounds reasonable for a FET. After transfer I had poor progesterone absorption so was on 2x crinone per day plus 2x pessaries 3 times a day anally. I also felt a bit crap but it was enough to sustain my early pg with DD
Best of luck with your cycle.

I've generally used 3x 200mg for my IVF cycles (with hcg booster shots). However, I know my new FS prescribes 400mg pessaries and I think he was saying I'd be on 1200mg or 1600mg per day if we did an IVF with him. I haven't done a HRT FET, so I can't speak from experience on that front.

Yes, the dose is high, but your FS isn't the only one prescribing those doses. Maybe he thinks your lining needs a bit of a boost after the protracted first stage of your cycle?

You could always call your Dr's office to ask about it if it's getting in the way of your daily life.

I did 3x 400 for my last stim cycle. Didnt have any effects though (that I noticed). Then again I was on so many drugs, the progesterone was the least of my worries

If anything though, progesterone makes you fatigued.

I agree with Juniper. If you are worried, speak to your FS.

I was taking two, three times a day. Not sure if they were 200 or 400mg but that's either equal to or double your dose.
Don't recall any major side effects though. Def check with the clinic hun xx

Thanks ladies. You have all made me feel a bit better. I rang nurse & she said I probably have a stomach bug & that the pesseries shouldn't be affecting me like that. I am feeling a bit better today but I guess it always helps when you have a day off (I worked all weekend). Hanging out till Wednesday till transfer. It can't come soon enough.

    Thanks mrs p.

Transfer was the easiest quickest transfer so far then I had acupuncture 45mins later. No twinging so far (I had twinging with my Bfp) so of course my mind is going insane. I've also had days off since the transfer to relax and not stress. Thanks for checking up on me. It means alot

That is exactly what I was on and I felt pretty crappy too (despite being told that you don't get side effects). I don't know if it was my mind or the pessaries.

Good on you for taking some time off to relax. Take care and

It's so hard not to read into every twinge or lack thereof! With my 1st BFP I had no twinges early on, with my 2nd I had very distinct implantation twinges (more like pains) exactly 48 hours later.
Glad it went well for you - good luck with the 2ww hun!
