What is a 'normal' dosage progression for Clomid?

I am after some clomid related advice for a couple of different things that have been bothering me. I am about to begin cycle 3 of clomid, 1st cycle 50mg (day 21 progesterone test negative for ovulation, however cycled 15 days later so fs thinks we may have missed it as I cycle normally every 6 months so something must have precipitated the change) 2nd cycle, increased to 100mg (day 21 progesterone results were 8, day 26 results were 14 so indicating again no ovulation) so he has just instructed me to jump to 200mg.

Is this weird to double the dosage? I am concerned the side effects are going to be awful as I struggled with the lower doses I am preparing myself for the worst with 200mg on board. My main issues is that I live remotely so the fs visits every 2 months, and apart from that I rely on my local clinic to take blood, which can take up to 36 hours to arrive at the testing facility so results are not always indicative of what's happening due to compromising of the samples. I have done no ultrasound monitoring (closest is 500kms away) which from my internet research seems to be fairly standard.

Should I be concerned about all of this? or does this sound like a normal clomid journey? any advice would be much appreciated.

MrsOM- In my earlier days of IF I was on clomid for 6 months.. In the end my dose was at 200mg and I never really found the side effects much different on the higher dose. The main risk associated with Clomid use without U/S and BT monitoring is the risk of a multiple pregnancy.
If you want to know when / if ovulation occurs I would recommend tracking your cycle with OPK's. GL honey Xx
