Can someone help, my DH just passed out...

He was asleep on the lounge when I came home from being at a friends house, then got up to go to bed. He remembers everything and doesn't seem out of it at all now. He just went to the toilet and passed out in the bathroom. He banged his head pretty hard, although it's not bleeding or anything, there's a significant bump. He said he felt nauseous before hand and everything went sideways, and then I was there waking him up. He was confused for a few seconds, and then got up ok and has been ok for the last 1/2 hour. Though he's saying he feels like there's pressure on his chest, though not pain and like he can't really breathe properly. And also like his heart is/was beating hard. I have given him two asprin and let him go to bed, and will wake him again in an hour. Should I do anything else for now?

Can you call the nurse on call? I'd ask about the pressure on his chest hun. Also after hitting his head, should he stay up for a little while in case he's got concussion ?

Take him to hospital? The chest stuff would have me more concerned then the head stuff..

I kept him up for 40mins, he wasn't dizzy or anything. He is really tired. I am petrified he's had/having a heart attack. His dad had a serious heart attack at about his age...

You need to call an ambulance ASAP. What you are describing is also signs of a stroke. Ambos will take him in while you can either organise chidcare or someone to meet him at the hospital. I can't stress how seriuos this is. H E need urgent medical attention.

I just called the nurse on call and she advised an ambulance. I woke DH and he's refusing to go. I don't know waht to do. He just wants me to come to bed.

Call one anyway. This is common that people don't want an ambulance when they need one. This really is serious. It is not something that can wait. I have firsthand experience with this.

Call the ambulance anyway. When they get there they can make an assessment and he can make an informed decision. Calling the ambos doesn't mean you have to be transported to hospital. And, sometimes a patient will listen to someone else before their nearest and dearest.

I managed to convince him to go to hospital. Thank goodness. Its torturebeing home and not knowing if he's ok, but at least I'm not going to wake up with a dead husband beside me, and he's getting medical assistance.

So far all I know is he has an irregular heart rate, high bp, and he stayed in hospy for obs for his head as well. He might need to be flown out to a bigger hospital for further testing as we live in a remote town with a tiny, very basic hospital. I haven't heard for about 3 hours but I dont want to disturbhim if he's sleeping. I have had about 1 1/2 hours sleep myself. Today will be a long one.

That must have been really frightening. I hope today brings some answers and well-behaved kids, or at least buckets of coffee...!
