Just wondering at what age you have taken kids to live shows? There is a Peppa Pig Show coming to brisbane in November. DS doesnt watch much TV at all as if the TV is on.. its normally adults shows like the news etc. However, when we have flicked over to ABC and Peppa is on he seems to enjoy it.
but at what age is too young? The tickets are $50 per person and he would require a ticket so its by no means cheap.. i would love to take him if it is worthwhile but would hate to spend the money and have to leave after 20mins cuz he is bored and lost interest?
I would probably skip it at his age. I took my two to a Playschool concert in May. DS loved it. He was dancing & singing along. DD (25months at the time) just clung to me looking stunned the whole time. She developed a liking for watching playschool that she never had before I took DS to the Wiggles in Dec last year (aged 3.75) & Banana's in Pyjama's not long after that and he mostly just sat there looking stunned. Those tickets sound expensive! Often under 2's are free. Is that not the case for this one?
I took DS1 to a Play School concert around 18 months old. He did get distracted and a little bored but he still enjoyed being there and got some enjoyment out of it I would go!
I think the first time I took DD1 to a show was when she was 2 and that was Play School. She loved it. I don't know that I would have taken her had she not watched the show on TV though.
i would have thought kids under 2 would be free as well but it only says kids under 12 months dont need a ticket as long as they dont need a seat. So im not sure if i could just decide at 20months my DS could just sit with me on my seat lol!
and yes it does seem expensive as well. although i havent really been paying attention to shows before now.. so wasnt sure if it was expensive or if i just had no idea to how much these things cost! i guess my biggest issue is 75 mins seems like a LONG time?
imo 75 minutes is ages! that really is a long time for little people with short attention spans.
my ds first went to a playschool concert around 18 months and just sat there in shock for most of it! since then we've done dorothy, wiggles, playschool again and, most recently, elmo. I've found that the 45m shows go best. ds turned 4 a couple.of werks ago and 30 m into the 60m show he was wavering. I looked around and pretty much every other child was the same! there's also the unknown mood factor - ds was the biggest wiggles fan. at 3.5 I took him along. he loved getting there train there etc, we.say.down and he tells me he in no uncertain terms that he does NOT want the wiggles. he got past it but geeeez
$50 is alot if there's a chance he may not like it or want to stay.
Yeh 75 mins seems like a really long time to me as well. and I also wonder if the intermission would be a bad thing as well. have a break and a walk around and he probably wouldnt want to go and sit down agian!
Hestia - i recieved an email from lifelike touring.. it is presale tickets through brisbane powerhouse wesbite for tmrw's sale and then normal tickets go on sale next week.
lol yeah i think that might be the better option. done some googling and there is a Dora show in Brisbane in september so might think about that. Otherwise I am considering buying our family VIP passes to the theme parks (sea world, movie world, wet n wild) and they do little 15 min shows with Dora and sponge bob etc... so might buy those and then try his attention span out at one of those first!
DD loves Peppa Pig, so we're considering going to this - it just seems so expensive for three of us to go!
Last November I took her to a dance concert put on by my old dance school as she loves dancing and I miss it. She spent the first five or so dances in awe, couldn't get enough of it. Then she played in the aisle for the next five, and after intermission she danced along with the girls on stage Good thing it was dark where we sat and she didn't put them off!
So I think if you know what he's like what that type of thing and he's going to be able to stand and jump around, go ahead! I wouldn't take DD if she had to sit the whole time though, or didn't already like Peppa Pig.
I took DS1 to wiggles when he was 17 months old and he loved it! Had never seen the wiggles before then.
DS2 went to his first at 9 months for Play school as I was taking his brother.
Both my kids have been to lots of kids live shows and love them, DS2 often sits and eats lots LOL. We have been to play school x2, wiggles x 7, disney on ice x2, giggle and hoot x1, Babba x1, Mickey mouse travelling show x2 and Sesme street.
I my self love live shows so probably more reason why I take the kids to so many!! And yes plan on going to peppa pig!
Have been to many playschool concerts which are great for all ages. Haven't been to many others because in my mind they are very overpriced (playschool is around the 18 dollar mark) - lots of friends have been to Wiggles and some loved it some didn't (some got bored easily even at 3 years) - depends on the child really and the show, and also the venue - some of the bigger shows you are far more restricted to your seat than others - I like the sit on the floor and dance type shows best and often these are the cheapest. I also hate feeling like something has to be good due to amount spent - so personally in your situation I would try a cheaper show first, or a more tried and tested - I mean not sure how they will do Peppa Pig but it is different to Wiggles or playschool where there are all the familiar songs to keep kids interested.
