    Endometriosis problems

    Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me. I was diagnosed with endometriosis a few years back and had a laparoscopy performed to remove adhesions.
Since then I have been on many treatments including zoladex, ocp's, amongst others.
I recently made an appointment to go back as I feel something is not right, I am experiencing pains very regularly again.
I had a ultrasound which found abnormalities in my uterus and I need a hysteroscopy performed. They have said it is up to me if I want another laparoscopy performed (because of the pain) to see if there are news growths, however I am concerned about scar tissue forming and causing more problems.
Any similar experiences shared would be appreciated

What do you mean by 'more problems'? As in trying to conceive? or that the scar tissue might cause more pain, or something else? It depends on where your endo is as to whether it might affect your ability to have chn. As for causing more pain, sounds like you're already having troubles now....personally I'd get it investigated and removed, even if that means painful surgery/investigations.

My endo was in the vagina and bowel wall and I was told it would make no difference to my ability to conceive....don't know about that as DH as fertility issues and it took just under 2 years to conceive both our chn. When I had DS (via CS) the ob commented that there was a lot of scar tissue on one of my Fallopian tubes and it looked like it may even be scarred shut. But no mention of more endo, thank goodness.

I had a lap (10 days in hossy, so not your usual day surgery), then a second one (just day surgery this time) a month later to 'tidy up', remove scar tissue and a couple of small bits of endo. I was told if I'd left it any longer I'd have had it growing into the bowel and would've needed a bowel resection - so glad I did it. Yes, recovery was long....nearly a month off work and 6 months before i felt like me again, but better than having endo in the long run. After that I spent over 5 years on the ocp before we tried to conceive. I do feel the pregnancy helped things as I haven't felt those awful symptoms I had before the lap.

With this preg, I have a large cyst (not endo related I'm told) that needs surgery and u/s's have picked up fibroids/scarring on the uterus. Nothing to worry about though, or so I'm told.

    HTH.

If it's causing you pain, it's best to get someone to have a look at it and remove any regrowth. If anything, removing it will improve your chances with TTC rather than hurting them. I don't think abdominal scarring can cause any fertility issues and endo (by definition) is outside the uterus. The only way removing it can typically affect fertility is if it is on your tubes or ovaries - sometimes the surgeon can remove too much tissue, decreasing your fertility - but it's a catch 22 because leaving the endo untreated can potentially be enough to prevent any pg anyway.

Like JLeigh, I'm facing the prospect of a bowel resection due to endo damage (half my bowel was covered in endo when I had my first lap and I was told I will need a bowel resection one day, but thankfully not yet). It's nasty the way it causes organ damage when left untreated...
