Questions you can ask when buying a 2nd hand Wedding Gown..

I am helping my niece find a 2nd hand wedding gown. She has asked me as her mum is a full time worker and she knows that I am good at looking for things.
We saw a nice one online the other day and I asked the lady how old it was...She said that she refused to give me the answer. Was this an unfair question? We both liked the gown and I felt as though it was a fair question. So, while I continue our search is it an OK question to ask online? tia

I would have thought that was a valid question...how random she refused to answer. It's like trying to by a car and the person refusing to tell you the age!?

Others may know more the rules if etiquette though.

I would say that age, storage conditions and how many times worn would be the minimum of what you could ask! Also if there are any imperfections due to use (eg someone stood on dress so some beading loose/missing or zip is a bit iffy). Has it been used as a dressing-up item by children would be another valid question.

I would also be asking why the dress is being sold, as I would like to know the history of the dress that I got married in.

How odd that she wouldn't tell you how old the dress is?!?

Similar to TFB, I would want to know whether the wearing of the dress resulted in a happy marriage! I would hate to get married in a dress which the previous owner had worn... and then suffered great hurt or unhappiness in the relationship! Bad karma or something. Silly, because it's only a dress but I really would feel that way! Not sure how you would work that one into the conversation?? How old is the dress? Where was is purchased from? How has it been stored? Any damage? Oh, and are you happily married? Do you ever fight? How's your sex life....?

That's odd. I wanted to sell mine and I put the age etc on the ad. Then chickened out of selling it lol
