    TMI alert- diarrhea

Ok. So I've got the runs for the second day in a row. I'm not feeling nauseous. Yesterday I went to the loo 5 times in a hour and twice later in the day. Apart from drinking hydrolite, should I be doing anything else? Should I be eating or avoiding and foods?
    TIA

Eat foods with not much flavour toast, dry biscuits... Stay away from milky stuff.

As long as your keeping fluids up you should be right until it passes xox

Drat! I've just had milk and yoghurt.

And more dashes to the loo!

Dairy is no good for diarrhea, I'm not sure why but it makes it worse.

Like Cat said, eat bland, boring food, lots of water and hydrolite if you need.

Home remedy kit for diarrhea: activated charcoal; probiotics; prebiotics like travelan, and add in a gentle fibre supplement ( if you use one like benefibre it has the added benefit of being a prebiotic as well). Stock up on dunny paper & be scrupulous about hand washing, using your own hand towel & cleaning the toilet including flush button & door hAndles.

Gastrostop. I don't think I've ever needed more than one or two pills.

And while I'd normally start with more natural remedies, if it's been more than 48hours without any signs of improvement, I'll go straight to it.

Bananas rice applesauce toast. All good stuff. You want white/beige foods. steamed potatoes are good. stay away from greasy, spicy, or dairy.

Thanks folks. I did some reading online and of course got mixed info. I called nurse on call to clarify and he confirmed that a bland diet and hydrolite was the way to go.
So I had a banana and toast with Vegemite for lunch. I think I need some clear soup too.

Thanks PN. The Olympic sprinting to the loo has stopped and I think all is good now. Played it safe with black coffee, toast and Vegemite and leftover vegetables for breakfast. Corn was ok, broccoli for breakfast just felt weird!

Bananas help bind you up. The BRAT diet isn't recommended as its high in carbs/sugars which can make things worse.
You really need to get a sample to know what's causing it.
TMI but is it really foul smelling? Like rotten meat? Or sweeter.
I'm a nurse and have developed quite the nose for different infections.

    Re: TMI alert- diarrhea

Perhaps a high quality probiotic might help.
