Is there an age when you shouldn't use a hammock for a baby? Like when they're brand new? I have one, but started using it with DD when she was around 4 months. I'm just concerned that the bottom is very soft - it has a floppy mattress thingy - and it's obviously not flat.
I'm just trying to decide if I bother moving the cot all the way down to our room, or do I just put the hammock in there? Would it be alright for overnight use? And do you not wrap bubs in there? I think I may skip wrapping this time anyway as DD didn't like it. What do you do about the back being curved? And their chin, will it sit down on the chest and cause problems?

I was wondering those exact same things Teeki
We put DS in his hammock next to our bed from day 2(hahaha DS, that's a bit weird to type after DD!) We wrap him in a muslin with a blanket as required. We haven't had any problems so far, he's a pretty spewy baby so occasionally we get a bit of a gag and choke but just have to get him up, no different to what we would have to in a bassinet. Our hardest part is trying to keep the little 'rolls' that you put on either side in place to put him in there

ThanksSo it doesn't matter that it's not flat? DD slept really well in there so I'm thinking it'll be loads easier than the cot and hopefully the little one will like it as much as she did!
Lily Dust, I have any roll things, just a type of mattress - just makes it softer I think. Do I need the rolls?
Mine came with the package that we bought. I never had them with DD and a bassinet but I am glad that I have them with DS- he prefers to be very secure and without them he isn't content. I don't think you need them, we started off without them but as I said DS just wasn't 'secure' enough for his liking.
Ah ok, thanksI think I'll get it out this weekend and have another look, maybe see if I can find something the right size and weight to see how it looks lol.
Another question because I've forgotten, do you put them with their feet at the bottom, head at the top, or in the middle? Does it differ much to a bassinet/cot that way?
Im not sure on what is the 'protocol' tbh or the safety guidelines but DS sleeps in the middle. If we put his feet at the end than his head is much mush lower than his feet. Took us a little while to find the right spot that he looks comfiest in. I am however, finding the hammock is getting rather low rather quickly as he gets chunkier![]()
I think the same happened with DD. She was only in there during the day, but I'd put her in the middle or she was sloping head down. Thanks![]()
