    Chances of twins after d&c

I had a d&c in April and fell pregnant unexpectedly in June (we were trying to prevent because I didn't think my mind was ready yet). I'm 8wks now, have already gained 3kg, eat healthy workout 4-5times a week and look like I'm about 4 months pregnant AT LEAST. A friend has been telling me that you have increased chances of twins after having a d&c and added into that that I'm 32... Any one else heard this? This is my 3rd pregnancy and hopefully second child.

I wouldnt think having a D&C would increase your chances of having twins. I think the D&C has more effect on your uterine lining than what your ovaries are doing (meaning whether they would release more than one egg?) i guess if you normally release more than on egg and your lining and everything is great there might be more chance both eggs would implant?

I hope either way you have a good scan again in a few weeks.

I've not heard of that before either, but that's not to say it's not true.

I guess a scan would be the only definitive answer, good luck!

I've heard that you're more fertile and more likely to have twins directly after a miscarriage, but that's anecdotal and not connected to natural m/c vs D&C...?

Haven't heard that, but I do know that I was showing waaaay earlier with this pregnancy (impossible to keep it quiet!) and put on 3kg in the first 10 weeks. It's normal to show quicker with subsequent pregnancies.

I am having a dating scan for my own peace of mind due to my missed miscarriage last pregnancy, next Wednesday at 9.5wks and it can't come quick enough. I keep having dreams about it too which is really strange as I've never been one to wish for twins or even contemplate the chance in previous pregnancies. I really don't think I am having twins but it just seems to be on my mind A LOT.

I thought I was having twins too, with the size of my belly and a passing comment from my GP that my HCG levels were unusually high. Ended up just being the one though. But, I am a week further along than I thought I was...
