Could it be hand, foot mouth again?

DS1 (5) and DS2 (3.5) had HFM when they were 14 months, and 18 months respectively. It is currently going round my son's school.

Can you get it a second time (I'd thought not). Both DS1 and 2 have similar-looking HFM spots just on the tips of their ears.

I'm really not sure what to think. Gut tells me it's very possible, but just weird that there's no spots on their hands, feet or mouth - or anywhere else. I noticed the spots over 24 hours ago.

    Welcome any feedback.

Yes can get again. That was first thing GP said to me when DS2 had it when he was 18 months old.

Hope they don't get it too bad its awful.

It's probably more DS3 I'm worried about (not quite 1). Having said that, the older two were fine when they had it. Lots of spots on their hands and feet, but that was about the extent of it. If that's what it is, then hopefully they've got some resistance to getting it too bad this time. Just weird about it only being evident on their ear tips!

DS2 was at CC when they rang me and asked to pick him up as he had spots on bottom. He then had a few come on hands and feet and he was fine. DS1 it was a few hrs later they called me to to pick up him from CC as he had some on hands and a few hours later had a mouthful of them and he was very sick with it, he lived on ice cream for about a week and then a few days was too scared to eat anything in case it hurt.

If they get it just panadol as needed. Good luck

HFM is a virus like the common cold (as such) so its very possable to get it more then once.
