    Stains in snow gear

How should I attempt to remove???

We borrowed some snow gear from friends. DS1 was exploring and playing with his pale blue and white mittens on and they got dirty. I thought just dirty.

Dried them out and thought it might brush off. No.

Hand washed in warm water and wool mix. No good.

Machine washed on gentle with smidgen of liquid (as directed). No luck.

    Stains/dirt/whatever it is remain.

    Suggestions??

You could try a technical wash like nikwax but snowmud stains are usually there for good.

Surely no person on the planet would be surprised or bothered by a child getting a stain on an outdoorsy type of clothing item ... ?

A suit or special dress or an heirloom or something, perhaps, or something intentionally or recklessly harmed, maybe, but snowmud on a snowsuit ... ?

I'd tell your friend what you've tried, and ask if they have something specific they use, as they've clearly been able to get their childrens' stains out from it up until now Surely their children haven't magically been able to keep them pristine historically?

And if they *are* annoyed, offer chocolate.

I'm about 95% sure she won't mind. She pointed out the expensive gloves that her DD1 got for her birthday and asked us not to use them but said she didn't really mind about the rest of it. I just feel bad and want to try everything before I give them back.

Her kids are out of those sizes, she keeps them as options for friends like me, so I'm sure it'll be fine
