My DD who is two does swimming and I'm just curious as to what everyone does once they gwt out of the pool. Do you wash hair etc at swimming? Do you shower at swimming or home? Do you get them dressed and then come home and shower? Does anyone know where I can buy a terry towelling bath robe for her? I was thinking rather than getting dressed at swimming and coming home to shower we could buy a bath robe for her to wear home which would save a lot of time. Or shower and wash hair at swimming. We have a new class which will mean we will be pushing time to get home, shower and ready for Church.
We don't shower after swimming, we give the hair a good towel dry and get dressed. Always have a bath or shower that night though to wash hair. Our local pool never has any hot water!
When I was doing the swimming I'd always have a shower when I got home, and so DD would come in with me - unless we were going somewhere straight after, I'd shower at the pool and DD would just get dressed.
Now DH does the swimming and he doesn't care about having a shower after. So he gets fully changed there at the pool, I dry and change DD, and that's it. We go home or wherever else we might need to be. We always wash her hair that night though.
My kids get terrible eczema so their paed told me to shower straight away with their bodywash and moisturise. The longer the chlorine is on their skin is terrible for them so I take the time to shower/moisturise them. I also fully dress them as it is freezing here.
That night they also have a shower where I wash their hair and remoisturise them.
When i was swimming with DD, we would both jump in the shower and shampoo etc at the swimming centre. It did stretch the time out but i never thought of coming home to shower.
Yep what Liviam said - told by GP to shower straight after, so we all do that. The benefit of that is that my kids are all completely at ease in the shower - helpful when there's no bath somewhere and they need a shower instead, unlike my friend's kids who had never showered and freaked out when they had to have a shower the first time!
We used to wash hair but since having DS2 I'm a bit more restricted with my hands so I don't bother with the big kids, we just wash bodies then do hair that night at home.
With just one child we used to shower but I have two and me swimming at once in the am the. My eldest is in the afternoon with the younger two in tow so its get dressed as quickly as we can then home to brush and condition hair we shower as per normal before bed it takes too long and there are queues for the only shower.
Our dd has swimming lessons that often overlap with school swimming lessons so for her it's out, dried, dressed, home and then bath or shower in the afternoon/evening, with hair washed and conditioned etc. we live about three minutes from the pool so even if we have something else on, she can get hme and showered more quickly than if we try to do it at the pool.
If we are all swimming as a family, then we will shower together in the family room. We tag team, one washes, whilst the other dries and helps dress.
If it is just me with the girls, the most times I will just get them changed and get them home to have a bath. DD1 is pretty good in the shower, but DD2 does not like it (even though she showers at home) and it is not that easy for me to help out.
We shower after swimming in the changerooms. We only bath the kids every second day and swimming falls on our non bath day so a shower is in order as the pool is full of non toilet trained babies and toddlers. We get the kids fully dressed after a shower and head home. We only live 3 mins away but being the middle of winter I want them fully dressed when we leave the swimming centre
Our pool only has communal showers with signs saying they are for rinse off only and there are always people waiting so we just do a quick rinse then get dry and dressed. We currently go swimming in the late afternoon though so not long after we bath the kids at home for bed and wash hair then.
