Which do you prefer when buying?

    A conveyancer or a solicitor?

When it comes to purchasing a property, who do you prefer to use and why?

And selling? We used a conveyancer when we sold as advised by the agent.

In Melbourne I would be happy with a conveyancer (that's where I did my advanced diploma and qualified to be one)

In Queensland conveyancers work under solicitors so it doesn't matter. Conveyancers up here aren't recognised by law to work by themselves because there is no formal training you can undertake to work as one. I came up here and had on the job training to be trained as a conveyancer, even with my diploma because the law is slightly different in the way real estate works

We've used a conveyancer for buying and selling.

Normally I would suggest to anyone to use a conveyance because you can sometimes get better rates, but given that I have access to free legal work (ie me) it would be pretty nuts for me not to use solicitors.

Its pretty regimented in WA, so whichever way you go you're going to be pretty safe

We've always used conveyances as well. But always been new properties thus far.

I could be wrong but I think in SA even if you are a solicitor you still need to be registered as a conveyancer.

I've always gone through a conveyancer or one that doubles. I haven't noticed an advantage either way.

We use a solicitor. He's got our backs and charges reasonable rates for conveyancing. We used a conveyancer once and she was hopeless.

I've used a conveyancer, twice, on advice of R.E. Two different ones, they seemed ok.

We've only used a solicitor. He and his paralegal were brilliant.
