Night training - not sure if I should just roll with it?
Dd1 is 3 and has been tt during the day for the last few months. On Thursday night she told me that she wanted to go to bed in her knickers so I said to her if she felt the same on Friday night she could do it then. I don't believe she is ready to be night trained but thought I would leave the ball in her court. So Friday evening she tell me that she wants to wear knickers to bed so set up her bed and put a potty on the floor (she is scared of the dark so didn't want her to have to navigate to the toilet) and prepared myself for a night of changing he sheets. Well she proved me wrong and got up to use the potty and was dry in the morning! So proud. Well I think the novelty of the first night wore off straight away and she has wet the last two nights. I am fine with this as its all part of it but I really didn't and still not 100% sure she is ready to wear knickers to bed. Now she is refusing to wear anything but knickers! No pull up or anything. I dot want to discourage her but not really sure how I go about it - do I let her keep wetting every night? I think she can usually make it to abou 5am before she wets so thinking I might get up at 4 and take her to the toilet - any advice would be great, I was completely unprepared for this!!!
That was my thoughts exactly! But I can't even get her to wear a pull up instead of a nappy! I don't want to discourage her though and get her to think I don't believe in her by forcing her to wear a nappy?
Just explain that sometimes our bodies aren't ready even though we want them to be! Ask her if she wouldn't mind "helping" mummy by wearing a nappy overnight, if she wakes up to go to the potty she can pull it down just like undies, but it would be a big help to mummy if she wore the nappy. Then tell her that the nappy can help work out when her body is ready - if she has 5 dry nappies in a row, in the morning I mean, then she might be ready for undies! Or something.
That would work for my DS1, who is the same age. He's all about "helping" mummy at the moment.
