In the primary curriculum it would come under the Social Systems and Structures content strand in the HSIE syllabus and it would also be taught in the science curriculum under both Products and Services and Living Things content strands. I would be looking at using food chains, paddock to plate concepts, sustainable food production and even excursions to farms or food factories. Why are you asking?
Thanks Trillian for your reply! I'm going for a job interview to do with a new initative to teach students about agricultural products. I need to connect them to the syllabus and being a secondary teacher needed confirmation on what I was thinking for primary. Are there any particular resources you would like to see?
Probably videos that actually show how food is produced and the extent of the ag industry. Some kids have no idea that even cotton shirts started production on a farm somewhere. Class poster sets would be great too.
