    *ahem 'Landscaping' tips ;)

Ok, so I need some 'landscaping' advice...

I have very sensitive skin and no matter what hair removal technique I use, I get red, lumpy skin, scars and irritation. I've tried warm wax, strips, creams and shaving. It seems to be irritated by my undies rubbing on the bare skin around the bikini line and when regrowth starts, it gets even more red, lumpy and irritated. It's not as bad on my upper thighs, but still gets red. I have permanently red, scarred skin - no way ever I could wear a bikini (not that I would anyway, I don't think!) So, I generally let the lawn grow long and onto the paths, lol!

However, there are times I'd like to have a more manicured garden edge, so to speak, especially with Drs appointments (and there will likely be a whole heap of people wanting a look in the general vicinity over the next few months) - not really into the Amazon look iykwim! I usually just shave, cos its easy and quick, but the regrowth causes irritation and it's not helping the area look any better. It also looks almost as bad as doing nothing!

What do others do, and what would you suggest for bikini line and upper thigh area?

Have you tried a beard trimmer?
It makes everything short but not so short you get regrowth.

Just curious have you had the garden waxed at a salon or just DIY?

I second this. I've got what's called a Remington Professional Trim & Shape. It has a few attachments so you can make it how you like, but DH basically uses it to get the top and sides all short and neat (I don't like regrowth either so prefer it not to be shaved off completely), and then shaves underneath because the regrowth doesn't seem as bad there and I like it gone.

Yes, I use DH's beard trimmer to trim nice and short. No ingrowns

Do you exfoliate? I shave, and used to have the same problem with the itchy red bumps/ingrowns. I now exfoliate before, after and then in between shaving and only get a stray ingrown sometimes.

AND EDIT POST!! You won't weare a bikini, get a grip girl-you're tiny!

I have super sensitive skin as well. I see a professional waxer who uses the white wax on my bikini line. There are different types of wax for different skin types and different areas of the body. She only uses the sensitive skin wax for me, finally I have a waxer who gets my skin

I am fair and red hair and can walk out of her salon after having my eyebrows waxed without any redness, same with my bikini line. I get an almost brazillian so have a landing strip left only. She also takes care of any ingrowns if there are any.

Yes, DH's beard trimmer is my usual strategy, I should've said that. I thought I was the only one who did that!

Never had a professional wax as I'm worried I'd make the water throw up in horror

Sunny Love - Ta, gotta love you! A wedgie on public display? No thanks! I've also 'lost' a couple of bikini bottoms over the years while swimming, so boardies it is now! I used to do the top half before my muffin top - and yes, you can be a size 6 with a muffin top!!

Ring a few waxing places, ask them questions about how they deal with highly sensitive skin, dealing with pregnant women, the training etc. I refuse to do my own waxing on that part of my anatomy, I would rather pay a professional to deal with it, with minimal pain.

Don't stress about getting a professional wax, us beauty therapists see all shapes, sizes, people, etc. To us it's a slab of skin with hairs that need to be removed - that's it! We don't even take note of anything but the job at hand!
Our waxes are also a much better quality than supermarket wax, and there are different waxes for different hair/area's/skin types. For example, Titanium Dioxide is used in waxes for its soothing and calming properties, so most places will choose waxes specifically to benefit their clients.
Just call a few places and express your concerns, you'll figure it out quickly if they know what they are talking about!
