moving your embryos between states ?? what to do ??
so we have moved form Tas to Brissy and trying to work out if it is better for me to fly back to Tassie and have FET or get my babies transferred to Bris ?
i do not even know if i can have them transferred between states ? or how much it would cost ?
IVF FET in Tassie is about $ 450 out of pocket expenses and for eg Monash IVF online says $ 1347 out of pocket expense
i could fly to Tas and back for approx $ 700 (short notice airfares) but i just dont know what to do ??
has anyone had frozen embryos transferred between states ?
we are looking at trying for another bub and i have 6 embryos in storage in Tas
I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't be a big drama to move embryos between states. We arranged to have frozen eggs moved between clinics within NSW and they were happy just to send them with a normal courier (DHL I think, at the same sort of price as having any other package delivered). Our clinic also ships frozen sperm between the US and Australia for a few hundred dollars. I haven't had personal experience with moving embryos but imagine it would be the same sort of process and that the clinics could arrange it all for you.
I think it would be pretty stressful flying back and forth for treatments but I'm sure that you could make it work.
Ooooh exciting JBM! Did you make a decision? We are in the same boat, our last embryo is in MIVf and we are in Canberra. We have decided that for us we would prefer to stick with MIVF and fly down for the initial consultation and FET rather than transfer our embryo up here, though there will be some contact with the clinics here for blood tests and ultrasounds etc. I found some info for a clinic here stating it was around $700-900 to transfer an embryo between clinics, but I have no idea if that's standard or not (FWIW their out of pocket costs for a FET were about $700 more than MIVF so maybe this particular clinic is on the dearer side?).
