    Foundation (Prep/Kinder) 2014 Chat

I remember there being a chat thread for starting school in 2013 so was wondering if we could do the same thing?

My DS starts Prep in Qld next year. He's very excited and tells everyone and anyone that he's turning 5 and going to school next year . I handed in his enrolment form today and have already picked up some second hand uniforms. I can see lots of tears coming from me in January

Who else has preppies starting next year?

DD1 will be prep next year, she is going to a very small local school (total 17 kids) and is very excited.

She has had 1 x 1.5hr orientation already & can't wait to go back again!

Dd1 is a preppie next year. She's had her interview, they only have two classes at the school so not a huge amount of kids.

She's got her uniform too - ds outgrew his size 6 this year so now they belong to her. I can't wait! Hope it gives her more confidence to do things for herself.

I remember when DS was a newbie, your DD1 seemed so big, Arimeh! It's hard to believe they are in the same year for school.

My DS is off to school next year, I'm really worried as he will have only just turned 5 and feel he's not ready. His kinder teacher feels he's more then ready and if I kept him in kinder another year, he'd go backwards.

Haha I know! Was that the day when DS came up and said that he wanted the drugggggs mummmmy, drugggggs. Not embarrassing at all! hahahaha!

But yeah, she'll be one of the oldest there - and the biggest!

Dd2 is going next year! We had some concerns earlier in the year and her kinder teacher wasn't sure she would be ready but dd has improved a lot this term and is officially going. Watching her in kinder last week she is ready she knows her letters, can draw and color shapes and her behaviour is much better. So we are going through it all again, dd1 was anxious last year and it was thanks to some awesome bb mums at the same school that she settled really well by meeting the girls beforehand. Dd2 is completely different everyday she asks when its her turn to go. The school has dropped from 124 kids back down to around 80 so it will hopefully be only 4 classes again. Our orientation is in November, our uniform is sorted dd2 is getting her sisters. It's all very exciting this time around!

Dd goes next year we still haven't chosen a school - she is enrolled in the local catholic school as well as the state school.

We are both leaning towards the catholic school but I'm still so unsure. We will do orientation next month and see how it goes I guess.

Very teeny schools on here I'm a bit jealous. Ours are 700 and 825 respectively with around 100 preps argh!!!

The other local schools are quite big but this felt right for her and is only 3min drive down the road rather than 15-20min away.

Dj is starting prep next year too, at the local special school... Im exicted for him (LOL) he's been a few times for varying tests. towards the end of term four they'll have him come in for a little while i think to see how he goes and what he needs... i think he'll have about 10 or 11 in his class. three little boys from the next town over... the scariest part for this mumma is sending him in on the bus! (the speical school have their own) i think i'll cry getting his unifrom... and his first day knowing what he was like at kinder, mum and dad and Vic wont matter LOL.

We are from QLD living in VIC. If we were still in QLD she would have started prep this year but she is 10 days past the VIC cut off so she will start here next year then when we move back to QLD in April she will be one of the oldest in her class. She is so excited, I'm going to be a mess haha

She is excited and I am excited for her but I will really miss her. She is a big help to me, both with ds and around the house. I will cry I think!!
