    Angry Inspection

    So we had a rent inspection today. I wasn't able to be home grrr So get home and the front door is NOT locked! what the heck is that?? Then My laundry cupboards are open?? Why would you be looking in my cupboards?? Then to top it off both back doors were also NOT locked!!
    Not happy JAN!!!
    So made some calls and apparently the cupboard thing is washy as she could claim she was making she the property was being looked after.......um ok but still. What other things did she look in. *sigh* this is why I want to be here when they come through. Stupid re

    The not locking of the doors is not really acceptable, and you have a right to make a complaint about that.

    They do have a right to open cupboards to look for any damage though. Try to remember you're living in someone else's house, which is a huge asset and they have a right to check that all aspects of the property are being care for.

    Inspection

    As a tenant you can refuse to allow an inspection if you aren't present. It means that you and the REA have to negotiate a time that suits you both (you just have to make sure you are reasonable in when you are available).
    I would definitely be lodging a formal complaint about the doors not being locked, and I wouldn't be impressed with their excuse for going in you cupboard either.
