    Unhappy Little party animal!!

My gorgeous little 13 month old will not go to sleep till late!!!!!!
She has 2 sleeps during the day and most of the time is awake by 3pm if not before. But then she wont go to bed till 8pm or so, and then treats it like a snooze and wakes up again about an hour or less later!
Its driving me crazy especially as I would like to go to bed early and as I settle to get myself ready for bed she wakes up!!!!!
I thought they were supposed to sleep at least 12 hours lol!
She is such a light sleeper even though I have done the same as what I did with my first little munchkin keeping things loud when she was a baby to get used to noise, she is shocking! You flush the toilet she wakes up lol!
Please ideas or something I thought I could handle it but ah I was wrong starting to get annoyed!

My DD was exactly the same at that age, she was pretty bad until about 2. I remember waking up and not moving whilst trying to breath very shallow so I wouldn't wake her It is so frustrating when you can not understand what is going on and why they wont stay asleep! We were giving DD just the one sleep through the day from 12 months because it wasn't worth the 1.5 hours of settling to get a 40 minute nap with a screaming kid at the end. She would wake (between 7-14 months) at least 7 times a night and anywhere up to 17 times

What can you do? If you have tried everything than really all you can do is ride it out. She will get better with time. They sleep when they their little brains mature enough to learn that cycling and sleeping isn't the enemy. But I do think, like anything, some kids sleep better than others and some learn to soothe and settle between cycles much earlier than others. As long as she feels safe, cosy and comfortable she will get there

8pm is early at our place! Do you think she still needs both day sleeps?

THey do grow out of the light sleeping, eventually. Well, DD did, and i hope DS does too soon. He is getting more tolerant.

By 12 - 14 months, DD1 wasn't sleeping during the day at all. We found that if she did, she would be up until 11pm! And then sleep until about 2am in her own room, then in with us until about 8am. She would get tired at around 4pm so we would let her chill out then with a movie or ABC for Kids at that point (TV wasn't on during the day otherwise). She's now 4 and if she happens to fall asleep during the day (usually it's in the car after a big day), she still follows the same pattern and is awake until really late.

DD2 is 13 months old and has been a shocker of a sleeper. She will only nap once during the day but is usually in bed between 8-9pm.

My DS has only recently grown out of the light sleeping... He's just turned 3.

I would be trying to drop one of the day sleeps and making it a bigger middle of the day sleep.
Also, when she gets up after bedtime, just keep putting her back... She'll get it eventually. A full 12 hours at night will do her the world of good.

Cutting back the 2 day sleeps to 1, might make her tire earlier at night time, which might work in your favour.

If my DS was up until 8pm every night, he'd be nuts!
