I had an appointment with Centrelink about 3wks ago about the change that happens when my youngest turns 6. I was told I could go onto Newstart which I agreed to and the lady said it would all be done for me. I just had a look on the website and it's telling me my last pay will be the day after DD turns 6 and it's only for a very small amount. There are no further details about going onto Newstart so thinking I need to apply. Has anyone else already been through this and what happened please? TIA.
the new payment can't be granted in advance on the system. it will end your ppp the day your child turns six (and you will receive the small payment to finish it off) and then newstart will be granted on the day. your newstart will then be paid on the day it's next due to be paid, but it won't be a full fortnight (as you've already been paid a part payment of ppp for a few days and the newstart will be for the balance of the days)
