Kids quilt covers, cotton or polyester?

I love cotton, for everything. BUT, my LO absolutely adores Fireman Sam atm, and I found a quilt cover (apparently it's all made in the UK??) and on ebay it says it's polyester. Is polyester bad? He has a 100% cotton quilt cover which is great, but it seems that all the 'licenced' bed coverings are at best 50-50 cotton/polyester. Any advice/experiences? He sleeps under a lovely wool/cotton blend doona, will the polyester cover interfear with the warmth/comfort? Ta

Most affordable sheets etc are cotton-polyester these days. The polyester provides durability while the cotton provides the softness and comfort that you are familiar with. I doubt most kids would even notice the difference between straight cotton v. a poly-blend, and he'll still get the same level of comfort from the doona as well.

Middle-aged women who are prone to nighttime hot flushes, on the other hand...

kinda off topic, but I have bought some gorgeous pure cotton doona covers from opp shops for about $4. I initially thought I would reuse the fabric, but instead put them on kids beds. I couldn't justify cost of new pure cotton covers, so it's win win.

MIL bought DS1 a polyester doona cover and the doona won't stay in the right place - it falls down so there's no doona at the top and a bunch at the end. I hate it! That's only polyester not poly/cotton.

I did exactly the same, Savers have a great range and some older licensed characters are much nicer too. They feel so nice because they are pre worn in too.

I also had same experience as Snowy Love with a Peppa pig cover that doona kept bunching up in even when I pinned corners - I suspect was high % polyester.

Marydean, I better stay away from polyester then! lol

Thanks ladies about the polyester experiences. Do you think it's because the polyester is a 'slidey' material? Maybe it has some static? Off to the shops to go and have a lookie and a feel. I have a Sheridan quilt cover on my bed and I'm pretty sure it's a cotton/polyester blend as it's not the softest, it's got some stiffness to it. I just can't get that damn Fireman Sam in cotton!
