DD has requested a razor scooter for Christmas thanks to her 'big kid crush' on the girl down the road - oh 'Sophie who can do no wrong'!
Thing is, Sophie is 8 and zooms around at a rate that scares me. Not sure 4yo DD can manage it and I don't want to set her up for lots of falls and frustrations.
At what age could your child manage a two-wheel scooter?
Dd1 got a three wheeler from Santa at 5.5 but outgrew it height wise 6 months later so got a two wheeler with brakes on the back for her birthday in July. She is getting really good and is doing tricks now. Dd2 now 4 uses it but only on flat surfaces if dd1 lets her. I was happy that dd1 used the three wheeler as it gave her a lot of confidence first.
My DD, having 8 & 10 year old siblings and not wanting to be left behind, has been competently riding a 3 wheel razor since about 18 months. She will be 3 next week and rides their 2 wheelers no problem. I won't let her ride their electric scooters alone, but she does stand in front of her brother or her sister and zooms around! Your DD will be fine, especially if she already rides a 3 wheeler. I hope Santa brings her a 2 wheeler
We're contemplating getting dd a 2 wheel scooter for either xmas or her birthday, she'll be 3 in february and she has a 3 wheel scooter herself, but rides her cousins 2 wheel scooter often with ease
DS2 has been able to ride a 2 wheel scooter since he was 20 months old, he used to zoom around on his big brother's, so he got his own for his 2nd birthday
My youngest was about 18mths old - but he had 3 older brothers and sisters to watch and that kinda pushed him into it quicker. I'd say 4 would be a good age - regardless of what type you buy they can still have spills off it.
Santosha - DS requested a yellow scooter from Father Christmas. His request has been approved
He's handled his friends (only 1 yr older) much better than we would have expected, so DD can have his 3 wheeled Wiggles Scooter and he gets an upgrade!!
