    Private certifiers

We have finally got over da, for our business, approved through council, it took 2 months and many dramas.
Now I'm looking into hiring a private certifier for the certificate of completion and certificate for opening in hope they don't muck us around as much as council has.
Is this possible? And if it is, any ideas of a ballpark figure of what it may cost us?
    Thanks

Just make sure the council allows this.

You don't want to find out later you still need their input along with their costs

The condition of consent in your DA that relates to your certificate of completion (or does it say occupation certificate?) should give an indication if you can use a PC. Are you doing any construction work and is it a food premises?

    Re: Private certifiers

Thanks all, just read the approval today. According to it we have to get council to do the water and sewage test and approval. But the wet area check and the final check can be done by any professional certifier.
But now I'm wondering if the money is worth the effort, but I'm kinda hoping that a private one may be more honest than the council and possibly more useful?

Based on your other thread and comments about the building surveyor, I would go private. I know some guys who do PC work in the southern highlands- PM me if you want some names.
