    Teacher's gifts...

I know there is another thread for gift ideas, but my question is a little different... The parent reps in both of my kids classes are organising a christmas gift from the class. I have contributed money to each of the class gifts ($20 per teacher plus $10 for the aide in my sons classroom). Do I still need to buy a personal gift?? I think not, but every year there are other parents who pitch in for the class gift and then buy another gift. I feel obliged to buy an individual gift - so as not to appear an ungrateful tight arse - despite the fact that I personally think contributing to the class gift is enough! Thoughts?

You don't have to, we are because she has been fantastic with dd supporting her through some pretty heavy going emotional stuff. If you don't want to buy something why not have your child write a card explaining what they learnt and what they like about the teacher?

So br, you are contributing to a class gift as well as buying an individual gift? My DS adores his teacher, but I think DD might struggle to come up with enough to fill a card! I was thinking of just buying each of them a bunch of flowers or a potted plant on top of the class gift?

Yes we are doing both, i wanted something a bit more personal so we are giving her some cookies (made by a bb member) in a jar she will decorate and a card with a photo and letter so not expensive just an extra thank you.
