If intermittently, I'm curious about how it feels. I was in hospital yesterday for what has been tentatively diagnosed as a popped cyst, but one of the things they were concerned about was Intermittent Ovarian Torsion (where the ovary twists on itself, and then untwists).
For some time now, I randomly get a pain on my right ovary side that I describe as 'tearing an ovary'. It feels like someone drags a knife from my pelvic bone upwards. It's the worst pain I've ever experienced, it takes my breath away, and lasts one or two minutes - although the last couple of times it's been longer, lasting up to five. I've never seen a doctor about it, because I have this irrational fear of being seen as a hypochondriac, but when she mentioned that they can twist, it was like a lightbulb went on - I'm sure that's what happening!
So what I wanted to know is, if you've have it, does the above describe what it felt like?
PS - I spent 9 hours in hospital yesterday before they decided to do nothing about it, but they said if I get that feeling again, to come straight up. I'm sure it's because they would like to spend another 9 hours deciding to do nothing.
I havent heard of that before but interesting you posted about it as I am seeing my gyno next week as have been having ovarian pain for months - which weirds me out as I am on the pill so not ovulating. I have PCOS so when I do ovulate - when not on the pill (which isn't often) I have intense, awful pain and it feels similar to this. Will be interesting to see what my specialist says. My GP wondered if my endo has spread to my ovaries causing pain.
Sorry to hear you are in such pain. Nothing worse than knowing you are in pain, and no one being able to help.
I have some incredible searing blinding pain that comes from my adhesions. Is there any chance you have adhesions? I believe fibroids can be horrendous too, depending on where they are too. These things are impossible to find on scans etc, so diagnosis is difficult.
I too have really painful ovary pain. I did see the Dr about it especially when we were having trouble ttc thinking it was related. The Gynea would not investigate but when I had an ectopic pregnancy and lap as a part of that they could see I had multiple adhesions. My pain changes. Sometimes its a stabbing pain, other times it feel like I have something in their about to rupture (like a constant throbbing which makes sitting down especially very difficult) The pain is often worse when I need to go to open my bowel and when I am around ovulation and AF. I imagine tortion of the ovary would be difficult to diagnose but if its something else a laparoscopy may give you some answers.
There's every chance I have adhesions Lenny - I've been begging for a laparoscopy for years, but nobody will do it. That's why I'm happy about the tentative torsion diagnosis - the only way it can be properly diagnosed is by a laparoscopy, so even if I don't have it, at least they'll finally be taking a look in there!
I get ripping pulling and literally it's like a hot knife going through my insides. It's from severe adhesions after a ileostomy reversal and a appendix removal and bowel obstructions. You need at the least a mri scan. Sadly a lap will cause more scarring. Iv got pcos and endo and I was admitted to hospital with the pain from it. I hope you can get answers if you want a chat or vent PM me anytime. Huge xxx
