I want to find a mothers group in North Brisbane, preferably for young parents with young children (4-8) or thereabouts. My DS is 5 turning 6 in June and I'd really like to find a parents group so we can all do weird things together? Sound like anyone's cuppa tea?
Before you ask, yes there is a lot of parents at my sons school, but I don't feel like I can talk to or relate to any of them, considering most of them are at least 10 years older, me being 26. This has happened no matter where we've gone, any parents I encounter are way older than me, not that I have any issues with having older friends, I have a few! I've tried to be friends with a couple of parents of my sons friends but it never eventuated..
Call me crazy.. but I feel like they're constantly judging, and the fact that DS has ADHD just adds to the stigma..
Hehehe love the wall:
I cant help as im in Perth. But i felt the same way back then except they were late 20s i was bout 20 looked 15 haha. That being said some of my best mates are mums from that first yr at school, they tended to be the more down to earth come say hi ones.
I'm 33 nearly 34 and my son is 18. I've been the young one in every group of parents I've ever been in.
My youngest is 11.
It's hard to find parents with kids the same age as mine that are interested in the same things as me that have the same ummm... Standards.
Hey, I am not sure about mothers groups but I am located on the Inner Northside. I have 2 DS's who are 5 nearly 6yrs old, the other nearly 4 and a 10 month old DD.
I agree it is quite hard to connect to some of the other parents as they are all quite older but I have been lucky in finding a wonderful school with a great community.
