Repurposing towels & bed linen?

Has anyone got some ideas on repurposing old towels? You know , the ones stained with hair dye, or slowly unravelling from one side. We are moving house soon and I want to de-clutter, but before I throw things out, I'd like to know if there is something good I could put these old towels to use with?

As for the bed linen, we have some old cheap cotton pieces that never get put on the beds, they have faded/lost elastic etc. suggestions on what to do?

You could donate them to a dog shelter if nothing else. I can't think of any repurpose except cutting up for rags

I cut mine up and use them to clean the bathrooms or need to wipe a spill on the floor. I throw them in a bucket when used and wash them every few weeks.

I also use them as bedding for the dogs and mats when the boys are painting.

If you sew, old sheets can be used for muslin/toile making (the mock up before actually sewing).
New place, are you painting? If so then sheets can be used as drop sheets.
